The Pembroke Farmers Market has been a cornerstone of the community since the early 1900s, serving as a gathering place for local farmers and artisans to connect with residents. After closing in the 1980s, the market was successfully re-established in 1992, thanks to the dedication of local vendors and community support.
Since then, the market has grown steadily, operating under the guidance of a Vendors’ Association in collaboration with the City of Pembroke. A major milestone was the construction of a 5,000-square-foot pavilion in 2007, providing a covered space for vendors and shoppers, complete with a canteen, ice cream shop, seating area, accessible washrooms, and bike racks. This development was made possible by generous contributions from organizations such as the Ontario Trillium Foundation, the City of Pembroke, Farmers' Markets Ontario, Giant Tiger (Pembroke), and Farm Credit Canada, along with local businesses and individuals.
Today, the Pembroke Farmers Market continues to thrive as a vital part of the local economy, supporting farmers, artisans, and small businesses while offering high-quality, locally produced goods in a welcoming atmosphere.
